It’s the baking soda, Melanie! That’s what’s in too high a concentration for sensitive pits — but of course, the deodorant doesn’t work to fight odor with too little of it.

Okay, I owe you ladies the Oyin review I promised. In a nutshell: very disappointing compared to Aromacreme. It’s drier, so it doesn’t “cling” to the skin as much and if you use a lot for extra protection it rolls off in these dry little balls. I also find that it clogs my underarm pores more easily and causes painful blocked sweat glands/whatever it is from time to time. And sadly, I’m not wild about either scent (I ordered both). I’ll still use them from time to time, but I do also think that it causes the same baking-soda-related reaction as Aromacreme over time.

Because of all this failure, and because I wanted to try my own recipes with other ingredients subbed in for baking soda, I experimented in making my own. I have had success in some DIY formulations; the ingredients are pretty easy to come by and the concoction doesn’t require loads of skills. I don’t have an EXACT fine-tuned recipe yet, but check out this thread at EDS if you’d like to experiment with making your own.

I’m gutted as well. It was the only product that worked for me. Might have to try the Oyin product or making aromacreme myself – the listed ingredients are in the order of concentration. I was told by Lush that Aromacreme caused some reactions to some people because the concentration of one of the ingredients. I’ll email Lush themselves. Melanie

Wow, I didn't know there was a group -- heck, that might just work! They've brought back other products before. But in the meantime, I can't urge you ladies strong enough to point your browsers to Oyin's website and check that stuff out. I just made an order myself, and I've heard raves from lots of other Aromacreme fans!

As far as I know, it’s not available anywhere. But you should try Oyin Funk Butter — it’s supposed to be very similar.

I haven’t yet tried it, but I will post if I do so stay tuned!
