I suppose it's intimidating if you're new to the concept. But I think the mere fact that they plugged links to places like EDS will be really helpful in opening DIY doors for at least a few readers. It's too bad the editors or the author seemed so determined to "debunk" DIY. They only wanted to focus on the negatives rather than the positives IMHO. Hopefully some of Elle's readers will be able to "read between the lines" of advertisers they have to keep happy and start exploring a little on their own!
